Appeals Policy
Last updated: 6 Sept 2026
This policy lets a learner challenge a decision that directly affects them, after exhausting the complaint stage where applicable.
What can be appealed
- The result of an assessment or exam.
- A decision on attendance calculation or eligibility for a certificate.
- The outcome of a complaint already submitted.
- A disciplinary decision made under the Code of Conduct.
How to appeal
An appeal is submitted through the website contact form (category "Appeal") within 15 business days of being told of the decision, and must set out: the decision being appealed, the grounds for the challenge, and any supporting documents.
Who reviews it
Quality management refers it to a manager or panel not involved in the original decision. They may review the full file, request further information, or have a sample of work re-marked.
Timeframe and outcome
A final, reasoned decision is issued within 20 business days of receiving a complete appeal. Possible outcomes are: uphold the decision, amend it, or overturn it and repeat the process. The appeal decision is final within the Institute.
While the appeal is being considered
Submitting an appeal does not suspend existing obligations unless quality management decides otherwise. A good-faith appeal has no adverse effect.
After the final decision
This process does not affect your right to approach the competent authorities in the Kingdom, or the certification body where the decision relates to an accredited exam.
